Clash of the Titans Saturday 14th November held at Huddersfield

This was a special event that was invitation only to the British team.
Different martial arts gathered together for a team fight-off to find the best.
Warren Vice was chosen as one of the T.A.G.B. team members.
The T.A.G.B. team won the event with a very strong nights work from Warren who won the fighter of the night award, a very prestigious award indeed.

--------------------------

Also at the British Championships at Cardiff.

Two high level accolades we also awarded to our members.

Warren Vice from Kings Lynn was awarded international fighter of the year, this award is given to only one fighter a year and with 25,000 members it is a real achievement to gain this award – this is the 4th time Warren has received the honour. Which goes to show the standard of this fantastic fighter.

Chief Instructor Mark Farnham was awarded his 6th Dan Black Belt this grade has taken over 25 years to achieve, with only a few Tae Kwon-Do practitioners in the country holding this rank or above.

A very well done to all of those students taking part in the latest events.

We currently have at least 1 competition every 4 weeks on average throughout the year.

AGE IS NOT A CONCERN

This is the start of my story that I would like to share with you Members,Non Members, and Parents.

It begins in the 1970s this was my first martial arts experience aged 13,my friends and I sitting in our local flicks (cinema) glued to the big screen watching Bruce Lee punching and kicking his way to victory, I was hooked I wanted to give it a go but the only sport available was boxing there was my first problem I did this at a young age of 9 for a number of weeks until I got caught by my trainer having a crafty cigarette he suggested I stopped going to his gym as I might encourage the others (silly boy). Then in 1987 at the age of 30 I saw some people dressed in white cotton suites carrying padded shields going into my old school, out of curiosity I followed them in, as the class started they did kicks up and down the hall then a vigorous workout and sparring which included sweeps (take downs) I decided to give it a go. My first lesson was very hard for me but for the others just a warm up. This was the first time that I met Mr Mark Farnham who had just successfully achieved his black belt with this very strict instructor. As months passed I managed to get to yellow belt, only to have announced that the Ely classes would be moved to another place Marham. As I did not have any kind of transport I had to stop training. It was 6 years later aged 37 I was flicking though the local paper when a advert caught my attention it was advertising Tae Kwon Do lessons at the sports centre with Mark Farnham (mmm that name seems familiar) I went along on the Monday evening and was greeted with "hello geoff good to see you again how have you been" well that was 12 years ago I have done in that time all my colour belt grading and a trip to Bristol for my black belt. I hope you enjoyed this piece I put together for you to read.

Yours
Geoff Youngs
